Granny bike

A granny bike is two bikes bolted together.
If you happen to get old - like 80, and have  problems mounting, dismounting and balancing your  Schwinn Impact  18 speed mountain  bike  - consider the granny bike.
http://www.thegrannybike.com/quadcycles/granny_bike_kit_description.html
I did all of the above and bought the granny bike kit.
Will report.

Should seat belts be optional?

We know that car safety belts save lives. If they were optional
many would not wear them.

Seriously, don't we already have too many stupid voters?

AZ no benefits for young illegals

http://news.yahoo.com/arizona-governor-no-public-benefits-young-immigrants-023442934.html
Arizona governor: no public benefits for young immigrants
By David Schwartz | Reuters – 12 hrs ago..
PHOENIX (Reuters) - Arizona Republican Governor Jan Brewer, in yet another clash with the White House, issued an order on Wednesday barring illegal immigrants who qualify for temporary legal status in the United States from receiving any state or local public benefits.

The action was a response to relaxed deportation rules issued by the Obama administration on Wednesday.

Brewer, whose state has been at the center of the country's immigration debate, issued an executive order denying state or local benefits to immigrants applying under the new federal immigration rules. The order would bar them from obtaining an Arizona driver's license or a state-issued identification card.

As many as 1.7 million people could qualify for the temporary federal program, which enables certain illegal immigrants to apply for work permits, Social Security cards and driver's licenses, according to the Pew Hispanic Center.

Applying for "deferred action for child arrivals" permits will shield some young illegal immigrants from being ousted from the United States for at least two years. In Arizona, officials said an estimated 80,000 illegal immigrants were eligible to apply.

To qualify, recipients must have been younger than 16 years old upon arrival; currently not older than 30; have lived in the country since June 15, 2007; and have no felony convictions.

Thousands of eager, young undocumented students swamped immigration offices in states with large immigrant populations like California and Texas on Wednesday.

Brewer wrote in the order that the new program "does not confer upon them any lawful or authorized status and does not entitle them to any additional public benefits."

She said she was reaffirming the intent of current Arizona laws, and preventing "significant and lasting impacts on the Arizona budget, its health care system and additional public benefits that Arizona taxpayers fund."

Arizona passed a tough immigration crackdown in 2010 to try to drive illegal immigrants from the state. In June, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld its most controversial provision requiring police to check the immigration status of people they stop if they suspect they are in the country illegally. The law has yet to be implemented.

Carlos Garcia, director of the grassroots community group Puente in Phoenix, called the governor's move on Wednesday a "mean-spirited attack" on a well-meaning program.

"Brewer has once again put Arizona's name on the map as the epicenter of anti-immigrant racism and hate," Garcia said in a statement. "However, like we have continuously showed throughout her time as governor, the community will stand united against Brewer's latest assault."

Sen Cornyn does not understand 2 Amendment.

-------- Original Message --------
Subject:  Thank You For Contacting My Office
Date:  Fri, 3 Aug 2012 11:43:11 -0400
From:  SenateWebmail@cornyn.senate.gov
To:

Dear Mr.

Thank you for contacting me regarding a proposed treaty
on international arms trade.  I appreciate having the benefit
of your comments on this matter.

In October 2009, the Obama Administration announced
that it would reverse current U.S. policy by supporting the
launch of United Nations (UN) talks on the formation of
a treaty to regulate international arms sales.  Secretary of
State Hillary Clinton stated that U.S. support of these
talks is predicated on the negotiations operating under
the rules of consensus decision-making, which afford
each nation veto authority.  I share your concerns
regarding the implications of such a treaty.

The negotiating forum for these talks, the UN Conference
on the Arms Trade Treaty, seeks to propose a legally
binding treaty to increase regulation of, and set
international standards for, the import, export, and
transfer of conventional weapons.  A conference to
negotiate a treaty text began in New York on July 12,
2012.  Furthermore, it is important to note that, should
a U.S. President choose to sign the resulting treaty text
in the future, it would subsequently require ratification
by two-thirds of the U.S. Senate in order to enter into
force.

Therefore, I have joined with my colleagues in signing
a letter to President Obama and Secretary Clinton
expressing grave concern about the dangers posed by
this treaty to our Second Amendment rights, and
encouraging President Obama and Secretary Clinton
to uphold our country’s constitutional protections of
civilian firearm ownership as the treaty process continues.
It is essential to safeguard the law-abiding citizens’
constitutional right to own and use firearms designed
for legitimate purposes such as hunting, target shooting,
collecting, and self-protection.
   Restricting this right
runs counter to the intent of our Founding Fathers,
who expressly guaranteed in the Second Amendment
that citizens would retain the right to keep and bear
 arms.

The United States must carefully evaluate actions
taken by international organizations to determine
whether they are consistent with our national interests.
As Americans, we take pride in our nation and its
hard-fought independence, and you may be certain
that I will vigorously oppose any legislation or action
 that infringes upon that sovereignty.

I appreciate the opportunity to represent Texans
in the United States Senate, and you may be certain
that I will continue working with my colleagues to
protect our sovereignty and defend our Second
Amendment rights.  Thank you for taking the

 time to contact me.

Sincerely,
JOHN CORNYN
United States Senator

The Magnificent Seven

re The Magnificent Seven with Yul Brenner, Steve McQueen et al (1960)

http://www.nixflix.com/reviews/magnificentseven.htm

Seeing this old movie made my realize how cynical I had become. This movie restored my faith in people in general; and in smirking, violent, predatory, criminal scum in particular.

The seven Good Guys fought the forty Bad Guys to a standstill, killing many of them in the process. The GG went out to hunt down the surviving BG. Couldn't find them. Back in the village the GG find that the BG have the drop on them. Gutless villagers, despite their recent combat training by the GG, let the BG in. Held at gunpoint by the BG the GG all piled their guns on a table.

Did the BG then castrate the GG? impale them? criucify them? bury them neckdeep in the sand? Naaaaaaah. The Honcho of the BG magnanimously let them all go with the understanding that the GG would never return. GG were escorted a mile or so from the Village, and had their loaded, operable guns returned to them.

To show their gratitude, the GG returned to the village and killed all the BG. .

The moral of the story seems to be that it is OK to disarm and put yourself to the mercy of smirking, predatory, criminal scum.

Carried to its logical extreme, the message may be that it is OK to turn in your guns to the police and call 911 if the bad asses are raping your wife and/or you; and for USA to disarm, leave all decisions to the UN, etc. Pardon me fora moment while I vomit into this conveniently placed plain brown bag..

How many other movies condition the American people to surrender??

Who writes this shit?

How to keep Berries Fresh.  The key to preventing moldy berries...
Berries are delicious, but they're also kind of delicate.  Raspberries in
particular seem like they can mold before you even get them home from
the market.
There's nothing more tragic than paying $4+ for a pint of local
raspberries, blackberries, or peaches, (or strawberries!) only to
look in the fridge the next day and find that fuzzy mold growing
on their insides and outsides!
Well, with fresh berries just starting to hit farmers markets, we can
tell you how to keep them fresh!  Here's a tip I'm sharing on how to
prevent them from getting there in the first place:  Wash them with
vinegar!
When you get your berries home, prepare a mixture of one part vinegar (white
probably works best, but apple works too) and ten parts water.  Dump the
berries into the mixture and swirl around.  Drain, rinse if you want (though
the mixture is so diluted you can't taste the vinegar), put in a ziplock bag, and
pop in the fridge.  The vinegar kills any mold spores and other bacteria that
might be on the surface of the fruit, and voila!  Raspberries will last a week or
more, and strawberries go almost two weeks without getting moldy and soft.

So go forth and stock up on those pricey little gems, knowing they'll stay fresh
as long as it takes you to eat them.
Happy berry eating!

Suppressed hunting rifle ok in Texas

Texas: Use of Lawfully-Owned Suppressors While Hunting Legalized in the Lone
Star State
Thank You to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission and NRA
Members!
Today, after hearing your support for this NRA-backed common sense hunting reform, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission voted unanimously to legalize suppressor use while hunting.
The benefits associated with suppressor use include increased accuracy due to reduced recoil and muzzle blast, protection from hearing damage and reduced noise pollution.
Prior to the adoption of this rule, lawfully-possessed suppressors were permitted for all other shooting activities besides hunting game animals, including the taking of nuisance species. The
adoption of this common sense proposal by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department helps in other states where the NRA is involved with similar pro-hunting measures. Legislatures in Oklahoma and Georgia are currently considering similar measures and Arizona has recently passed one which would enhance hunting opportunities because of the many benefits that
suppressors provide.
The NRA strongly supported this regulation change to allow for the use of lawfully-owned suppressors for hunting in Texas.
There is an incredible amount of misinformation on what suppressors do and how they may be acquired. Suppressors are not "silencers," as depicted in typical Hollywood action films. While suppressors do not eliminate the sound of a firearm, they do reduce the muzzle report in a manner similar to the way that a muffler reduces exhaust noise from a vehicle.
Noise complaints are being used more frequently as an excuse to close shooting ranges, informal shooting areas, and hunting lands throughout the country. Increased use of suppressors
will help to eliminate many of these complaints and protect hunting and shooting areas well into the future.

Bill to impeach Obama gets scant coverage

March 13 2012
Calling it the most important story he’s covered in 17 years, talk show host Alex Jones is furious over the mainstream media’s skimpy coverage of a bill to impeach President Obama.“You’d think that would be news, wouldn’t you?” Jones said during a video report. “No, there’s a blackout on it.”Rep. Walter B. Jones Jr., (R-N.C.), introduced a resolution that declares it is an “impeachable high crime and misdemeanor” for the president to leverage offensive wars without permission from Congress, as provided under Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution.Continue reading on Examiner.com Bill calls for impeachment of Obama - National Alex Jones Examiner.com http://www.examiner.com/alex-jones-in-national/bill-calls-for-impeachment-of-obama#ixzz1qC9S2AeQ

Marines in Afghanistan ordered disarmed near Panetta

http://www.maggiesnotebook.com/2012/03/afghanistan-gen-mark-gurganus-disarmed-marines-to-look-like-afghan-partners/

Secretary of Defense Forces Marines to Disarm

In what many in the military are calling an unprecedented attack on our military, 200 Marines at Camp Leatherneck in Afghanistan were forced to disarm and leave their weapons outside of the camp. The orders were given to 200 Marines who were gathered to hear U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta speak. This is a very troubling story! Normally the Marines are always supposed to have their weapons with them in a war zone. And in the past they have always been allowed to keep them no matter who was speaking. And why wouldn’t they – they are supposed to be the ones protecting these political figures in the war zone.
